#1 - Make Your Bed by William H McRaven
Life is gonna throw you curveballs. Start the day by making your bed, that way if it all goes to $hit you can say you accomplished something. If you don't have time to read this book you please check out William's inspirational speech on YouTube. Here is the link.
#2 - The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel Van Der Kolk, MD
This by far is the best book on trauma and its effect on the body. I enjoyed this book so much that I just bought another copy as I often lend it out. Word of caution, sections 3 & 4 are intense, it is ok to skip these and come back later when you are farther along in recovery.
#3 - The Greatest Beer Run Ever by John "Chick" Donohue & J.T. Molloy
Sometimes you just need to take a break and have a good laugh. This memoir will take you on an adventure through the Vietnam war from the eyes of "Chick" who just wanted to let the boys from his home town know that everyone back home appreciates the work they are doing.
#4 - Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey
A brilliant memoir that will have you laughing the entire time. Matthew's journey to the Big Screen was not as easy as you would think. Greenlights mean go—advance, carry on, continue.
#5 - Radical Compassion by Tara Brach
Tara Brach is a rockstar in the world of Mental Health and Self-Help. I chose Radical Compassion as it is currently the area I need the most work on. This list could have been full of Tara Brach books but what fun would that be.
